Capturing Fall - Pretty Little Studio Design Team Hello crafty friends! I’m excited to share a new layout created for the Capturing Fall Without Using A Fall Collection challenge for October. I created with the beautiful Well Read Collection by Pretty Little Studio - with its rich yet rustic colors and beautiful designs. My layout is featuring one of my favorite design elements—circles! I love how such a simple shape can make a big impact on a scrapbook page, especially when you combine lots of different patterns and add a little hand stitching. For this layout, I wanted to document these sweet photos of a fun Fall day spent among the pumpkins and flowers as my little guy helped me decorate for the season! The warm oranges and browns in the photos gave me the perfect starting point for my color palette, but I also mixed in some softer pink, blue, navy, and cream patterns to keep the page feeling fresh and playful. I started with the light grid-patterned background and cut several circles from a variety of patterns using the Well Read 6X8 paper. I love mixing bold patterns with simpler designs, so I chose stripes, florals, geometric prints, rainbows, and warm color-blocked papers. Rather than arranging the circles in a perfectly even grid, I overlapped them across the page. Some extend beyond others while a few are partially tucked underneath the photos. This gives the background movement and makes all of those circles feel like one connected design rather than individual elements floating on the page. Of course, I couldn't resist adding some hand-stitching around the circles. The stitching gives the patterned papers a little extra definition and adds that handmade texture I love so much. I used three photos on this layout but treated them as two separate photo areas. The smaller photo of my little guy holding his pumpkin is framed with a distressed woodgrain-style frame from the Book Addict Frames . I added a sweet stitched heart (fussy cut from a patterned paper), small stickers phrases from Overdue Word Stickers , and a floral accent beside the frame (also fussy cut from a patterned paper in this collection). These little details help connect the photo to the surrounding patterned papers without overwhelming it. For my main photo cluster, I placed two larger photos side by side toward the bottom right. I kept the matting fairly simple because there was already plenty of pattern and color happening in the background. For the photo mats, I used two cards from the Plot Twist Journaling 3x4 Pocket Cards. The Hello Pumpkin title anchors the bottom of the photo cluster and gives the layout a strong finishing point. I die cut small letters using one of the patterned papers and then used the Pretty Little Studio Well Read Table of Contents mini alpha stickers to make "Hello". I added a few of the same warm floral embellishments around the title that I used near the smaller photo. Repeating those elements helps carry your eye across the page and ties everything together. I also added just a few tiny ink splatters around the design. I wanted enough detail to give the background some personality while still allowing plenty of white space to balance all of those patterned circles. I really love how this page turned out! The beautiful colors, sweet pumpkin photos and hand-stitching all work together. If you're looking for a way to use several patterned papers on one layout, try cutting them into one repeated shape. Circles are especially forgiving—you can overlap them, tuck them behind photos, stitch around them, or let them extend off the page. It's also a great way to use some of those favorite scraps you just can't bear to throw away! Thanks so much for stopping by today.
